Thursday 4th March

Good Morning! Today is World Book Day! You should have all been sent a digital book voucher that you can buy a new book with. Here are this year’s titles – if you download the PDF you can click on a cover to get a sneaky peak inside! Instead of science today you have some fun things to do linked to World Book Day.

Today’s catch up will be at the earlier time of 1pm.

I will be reading you a story written by Rob Biddulph who helped us draw a dragon on Monday. The story is about a penguin that gets blown away and afterwards we’ll learn how to draw him so make sure you have some paper and a pen ready!

I also look forward to seeing you for English and phonics this morning.

English

Today we would like you to write the next entry into your travel journal  after the snail’s visit to a tropical beach!  Look at these images to get you thinking.

Now watch these two videos to get more inspiration – the first is a bit long so just watch the first few minutes.

Remember to write in sentences using a capital letter and full stop and try and use some adjectives to bring your writing to life.  We will finish the travel journal next week when you are all back in school!

Phonics

If you can’t join me at 11 then please watch Lesson 39 of the Spring Term Letters and Sounds videos where you will learn that a can make the ar sound as in mask.

You could also have a go at this pairs game again which has the new sounds we have been learning included.

World Book Day

How you can celebrate a very 2021 World Book Day on Thursday 4 March! | National Literacy Trust

We would like you to have a go at this scavenger hunt at some point today, you will need to be a book detective!

If you fancy a bit of fun you can also watch this filmed performance of Rescue Readers by a youth theatre company. It has some fun things for you to join in with!
