This week in our literacy sessions we were looking at rhyming. So we decided to make a class rhyming poem about our literacy text, “When the Mountains Roared.” We then put it to drumming patterns. It was really good fun.

In our literacy sessions we have been looking at the features of a non chronological text. We have been using what we’ve learnt to create interesting animal reports. The children have really enjoyed finding out strange and exciting facts about their animal. The animals were chosen from ones mentioned in our current literacy text. Take a look at what we’ve done.

Welcome back everyone, I hope you all had a really good break and spent time with family and friends.

This term we will be exploring the topic, “India.” We shall be using the book “When the Mountains Roared,” by Jess Butterworth for the stimulus for all of our literacy work.

We will also be developing our geography skills, finding India on a world map as well as finding major rivers, cities and land forms. In art we will be exploring pattern and in dance we will be trying out Bhangra dancing. In science , states of matter will be explored. We have a lot to look forward too. It’s going to be an exciting term!
