Stunning starfish!
Today we found out about starfish. There are over 2000 different species and they all look so beautiful. We then created our own – they look amazing!

Fish skeletons
In science this week we learnt how animals are either vertebrates or invertebrates -I wonder if your child can remember! Today we used pasta to create fish skeletons. I’ll post some pictures of the finished work tomorrow once the glue has dried.
All together again!
It felt so good to be back together yesterday and the children were really excited to see each other. We read the story How to Build a Rainbow and shared our experiences of this lockdown; the things we’ve missed, the things we’ve learnt and the things we are looking forward to. We then painted our own rainbow sticks outside in the sunshine!
Wave goodbye to home learning!
Wow look at these amazing wave paintings! I think they look fabulous! I can really feel the movement in the water. I can’t wait to wave hello to you all on Monday morning!
Friday 5th March
Good Morning everybody!! This is our last home school day – you have been amazing and I have loved every minute of it but I can’t wait to see you all in the classroom again on Monday! I know your friends at school are excited too! A huge thank you to all the grown ups too who have helped you at home, you are all super stars too!
You will need to bring all of your home learning things back on Monday – red book, whiteboard, whiteboard pen, handwriting book and your snail travel journal.
Please join me for the final maths session and phonics this morning and our very last catch up at 1.45pm where we will play some fun and games.
For our phonics lesson later please can you write these tricky words on some small pieces of paper or post it notes.

Hokusai’s Great Wave
Hokusai was an artist who was born in Japan about 250 years ago.
His most famous work of art was ‘The Great Wave’ – a woodblock print. Have a look at it below:
Talk to someone at home about the picture – what colours has the artist used? How has he made the water look like it is moving?
Look even more carefully – what else can you spot in the ocean?
Do you see something in the background where the land would be?
This is Mount Fuji – the highest mountain in Japan. It is also a volcano.
Hokusai created a series of woodblock prints called ‘36 views of Mount Fuji’. They show landscapes and the everyday lives of people in Japan around 200 years ago. Have a look at the pictures – can you spot Mount Fuji in each one?
You might feel like creating your own piece of wave-inspired art, maybe using some of the tints and shades of blue you explored during Monday’s art session. Remember to share your work, we’d love to see it!

Good Morning! Today is World Book Day! You should have all been sent a digital book voucher that you can buy a new book with. Here are this year’s titles – if you download the PDF you can click on a cover to get a sneaky peak inside! Instead of science today you have some fun things to do linked to World Book Day.
Today’s catch up will be at the earlier time of 1pm.
I will be reading you a story written by Rob Biddulph who helped us draw a dragon on Monday. The story is about a penguin that gets blown away and afterwards we’ll learn how to draw him so make sure you have some paper and a pen ready!

Today we would like you to write the next entry into your travel journal after the snail’s visit to a tropical beach! Look at these images to get you thinking.
Now watch these two videos to get more inspiration – the first is a bit long so just watch the first few minutes.
Remember to write in sentences using a capital letter and full stop and try and use some adjectives to bring your writing to life. We will finish the travel journal next week when you are all back in school!

World Book Day
