Art

On Monday this week – which seems like a life time ago now, the children explored different lines and made these beautiful pieces of work! They are up on display in the classroom but I thought you might like to see them.

Tuesday 6th January

Hello everyone, I hope you enjoyed your tasks yesterday. If you have any photos you want to send in of work you do at home then please do send them to year1@damers.dorset.sch.uk.

Phonics

Today is lesson 2 on You Tube. We are learning that ‘ea’ can make the e sound as in head. Please watch and join in. Next week we are hoping you’ll be able to watch and join in with your real teachers doing phonics! We’ll be letting you know more about that soon.

Maths

Carrying on from yesterday’s work today we are comparing numbers.  Watch the video to find out more and then look at the work sheet.  Again if you want to and have a printer then print it out to complete.  If not then do just talk it through with a grown up.

English

Watch this film and see if you can work out what we’re going to be learning about for the next few weeks?

Then have a go at filling in this sheet.

If you don’t have a printer or would rather not print it out then please just draw your answers on a piece of paper.

Good Morning

Well it would seem like everything has changed again! For those of you who are at home, I am just putting a few things on the blog that you can do at home today. Have fun and let me know how you get on!

Phonics

Please watch the online phonics lesson.

Emma is teaching us how the letter y at the end of a word can make the ‘ee’ sound as in silly, party, mummy, daddy, etc. Have a watch here

You might like to make up a silly sentence with some words ending in the y sound or start with one word and generate a rhyming list or real and nonsense words eg Silly, billy, chilly…

Maths

Yesterday we started looking at the numbers 11-20.  At home today could you please watch the video below.  There is also a worksheet (in the blue link below the video – click on down load) you could try and complete too.  If you don’t have a printer – don’t worry just talk through with a grown up what your answer would be!  Have fun!

HARMONY

This week we are looking at the work of French artist Henri Matisse. He created bold, bright collages using paper cut-outs.

Matisse was inspired by nature and created cut-outs of birds, animals, sea creatures, leaves, flowers and even fruits and vegetables in his collages.

What can you spot from nature in these lovely works of art?

Can you create a collage from some paper cut-outs? You could draw or colour in your shapes on paper or card first. Have a look outside to get some inspiration from nature, like Matisse did!

Happy New Year!
