Friday 26th February
Good Morning! I am doing some training this morning so please work from the blog. I will see you this afternoon for our catch up session! It is such a beautiful day so do make sure you get outside and enjoy the sunshine too!

Please can you also have a go at learning to spell put and push – maybe try playing our tricky word noughts and crosses game! There is also this anagram game you can play which looks at lots of our tricky words.

Can we find spirals under the sea?
Yesterday we watched a video of creature like this:
Can you remember what it is? How do you know?
Can you describe a spiral or tell someone at home why it is a special shape?
Spirals can be found everywhere in nature – even under the sea…
What do you know about these spirals? Which do you find the most interesting?
Have a go at drawing some spirals – try starting from the middle and swirling outwards and then from the outside swirling in. Does one way work best? You could make spirals out of playdough or draw them onto tinfoil or even in shaving foam. We quite like this paper plate sea snail art as well! Don’t forget to decorate your spirals with stripes, spikes, or other patterns…

English
Look at this image from the first page of the book and read the start of the story. Have you seen snails before? Where were they and what did they look like? Have you heard of sea snails before? Watch this video and look closely at the snail.
In the text it says “This is the snail with an itchy foot” When we say that people have itchy feet it means that they want to travel! The underside of a snail is called its foot!
Why do you think she wants to travel? Where do you think she might like to go? Download the PDF and record your idea in the thought bubble. If you’d rather not print the sheet then record it in your red book.

In this lesson, we will be learning about living things and the features of living things. All living things need to be able to breathe, produce waste, grow and change, feed and reproduce. We will then finish the lesson looking in more detail at different types of diets that animals may have. You will need a piece of paper, a pencil and most importantly your brain!

The BBC have produced a lovely dance lesson called Let’s Move with the voice of Mr Tumble. It is based on the book ‘The snail and the Whale.’
You can listen and join in with the first lesson. You will need to log in to the BBC site. It just needs an email and password. Perhaps your parents or siblings can join in when it is time to be whales or icebergs. Enjoy!

Look at the cover of this gorgeous book by Julia Donaldson. What can you see? If the animals could speak what might they say? What might they be thinking? Download the PDF and add your ideas into the speech and thought bubbles. If you don’t want to print it out, draw the animals in your red book with speech or thought bubbles. Don’t forget to use capital letters and full stops.

Geography
Welcome to our first lesson on our new unit called the Oceans and Seas. Today, we will be learning about the 5 oceans on our earth and the location of them in relation to the 7 continents. We will be ordering them in size and discussing why the oceans are always in motion. In this lesson you will need a pencil, a piece of paper or an exercise book and your wonderful brain. Monday February 22nd
Good morning everyone, I hope you had a lovely half term. I am afraid I hurt my wrist when I fell on a walk so won’t be in school for a little while. Today please can you follow the work on the blog. I will start teaching you all again tomorrow – I can’t wait to see you all again! Our new theme for this half term will help us answer this question – Why are our oceans amazing?

Art
Creative Earth Art Competition
Creative Earth is an art competition for people aged 16 and under from across the UK, run by the UN COP26 Climate Change Conference in collaboration with WWF.
As part of the Together for Our Planet Campaign, they are inviting young people to get creative and show global leaders the world they want to live in.
Whether it’s green forests and garden cities, clear skies and wind turbines or oceans teeming with life they would like children to paint, draw or design a piece of art that shows how you’d like our planet to look in the future. The art work must fit within the circle and the colour green must be included.
The UK is hosting COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021, bringing together world leaders to tackle climate change and ensure a better future for us all.
The winners will have their artwork displayed at COP26 to show the rest of the world the vision for the future. The closing date is Sunday 28th February.
You can send an image of the completed artwork to TogetherForOurPlanet@cabinetoffice.gov.uk with the subject title “Creative Earth – <Your Name>”. Please keep the original artwork until the competition winner is announced.
